Designing with AI, not around it

For years my job ended at the handoff. Now a sketch can turn into something you can click by the afternoon — and that changes what design is for.

For most of my career the work stopped at a Figma link. Someone else turned it into a product, weeks later, and by then half the ideas had been negotiated away.

AI moved that line. Today I can take a rough idea, build a working prototype the same day and put it in front of people before anyone has opinions about it. The mini apps on this site were made exactly that way.

The interesting part isn't the speed. It's that the expensive question — is this worth building? — can now be answered with something real instead of a slide.

What doesn't change is taste. Deciding what to leave out, what should feel inevitable, what the one thing is: that's still the job, and it's more visible than ever.
