Motion
A small case for slow interfaces
Not everything should be instant. Some motion is there so you understand what just happened.
We spend a lot of energy making interfaces faster, and mostly that's right. But a picture that flies from its tile into a page tells you where you are in a way a cut never will.
The trick is that good motion is never in the way: you can always click through it, and it always lands where your eye already is.
